don't lose the beat

we got the beat

we all have an innate rhythm to our lives that dictates the daily cadence of our day. from here to there to everywhere we have a thump thump thumping that keeps us going from morning to night and and back again. and into our dreams the beat goes on..

the early morning bleats of our alarm clocks... or the steady blare of noise.... that jolts us from our slumber.. (or maybe its music that quietly comes on)  starts our internal rhythm that tells us what needs to be done, where we need to be .. how.. how.. how. are we gonna get it all done.

from the morning gurgles of the coffee percolating and our cereal crackling at us.. we all march to our cadence.

when that beat is lost, when we skip a beat..
the cadence is lost.
we lose focus on the priorities. of the what, how, why & whens.
sometimes the beat is not lost but are marching to the beat of someone else's drum...losing focus.

go ahead.bang on your own drum. find your rhythm ... focus.

can i be happy now?

(cue the music: Bon Jovi - Happy Now)

Maybe when we stop expecting the other shoe to drop , we can begin to be happy. It seems that we are always waiting for something to go wrong that interrupts our inner peace (or is that piece?) and our quest for happiness.

Is that piece missing or is it an add-on?  Is happiness what we have when we lose that extra baggage and finally are able to say enough?  Or is it when we ad the pieces of flair or sparkle and bring the pieces of meaning into our daily lives?

I don't want to live in constant fear of what one piece will do to drag out my sparkle or diminish my dreams.  Where is that buffing cloth? Need to get the shine on.  I am in charge of our dreams - and then my destinies.

When the shoe drops - I want to be able to pick it up, put it back on my foot,  stand tall , and keep walking with my head held high. And sparkle.

Then just scream out loud.  can i be happy now?

starshine

stars above.
shining down upon me.
sparkling. twinkling, glittering

they are confetti in the sky.
swirling, twirling, shining
upon my face.

capturing time

time.

where does it go when we use it up?
we can never get it back - we can glimpse back at time past.

in the moments caught in photographs ~ a moment caught forever in time.
a toothy grin. a double chin.
teardrops falling.
grasping hands.

we cannot hold onto it.

like a balloon we grasp  and hold tightly.
but it slips from our hands.
and floats upward. until it fades from view.

we grab another balloon.

read the signs

riding along in my automobile

I am cruising down the highway, windows rolled down, roof down, radio blaring with the sun shining in.  Suddenly, the traffic begins to slow ~ then I see the orange signs. Construction ahead. Right lane closed - merge left.  Great. Just when things were going smooth.  The ride becomes bumpy as I ride over the unev
As I bump and inch along and see the ramp for the next exit. That's the sign I was looking for. EXIT on left. Getting off this road so that I can cruise again. So the car can do what it was meant to do - DRIVE. Straight ahead. No stopping. Leaving the parking lot of the highway, I careen off the exit ramp and yield to oncoming traffic and again on my way. Hopefully no bumps will stop me now.  en pavement. Hopefully the bumps in the road will be temporary - this is not good for the chassis.

I am happy to be moving again. Cranking up the tunes on the radio and singing along.  Enjoying the drive. Thinking. Watching the roadway. I notice a few miles up the cars slowing down. Oh no. not again. what is with it with the road construction around here? Why do they have to fix every road I travel at the same time? I mean really.  Then I see the sign. DETOUR AHEAD. MUST EXIT HERE. Guess. what. the exit spits me out on the exact road that I just got off and its still congested.  So. make the mass exodus, bump along for a mile or so and just take the first exit ramp on the right.

I need a new path.  New roads to conquer.

the missing piece

picking up the pieces
lining them up..

looking for matches
the frame is complete
filling in the middle
turning them around
snapping them into place

there is a hole in the middle.

what became of me?
