little things

yeah. THOSE little things. yeah. i know i shouldn't sweat that small stuff - but sometimes all those little things create one BIG mess to clean up.

we need to take care of those little things before they create a BIG mess. one thing at a time. focus on each item. FIRST we grab the sponge and wipe it all away. Then the broom .. and SWEEP. when the little thing really are really bad, grab the vacuum - that will suck it all away.  something WRINKLED your plan to focus? GRAB an iron. straighten out that mess.

so. don't sweat the small stuff. the trash will take itself out.

THIS moment. LIVE it.

YES. it's time to cue the music again FEEL THIS MOMENT.

do you ever hear one song wherever you go and wonder why this song?!? those  moments when a song just seems to speak to you? make you smile? you cry? Even those awkward moments. sometimes i hear songs so much they seem to be always playing in the back of my head.

life is all about moments. and how they are strung together.  and we need to remember where we are now. and enjoy that moment before it becomes a memory.  there is nothing more than what is here in front of us. go ahead, seize the moment. shake it up. when it's over, a memory made. no. they don't have to all be beautiful.

yes it's also nice to plan for future moments. if you want to know where you are going, buy a GPS. GPS's tell us where we are going, and how long it will take it get there. (if you are even smarter it can tell you how much gas it takes to get there) NOT where we have been.  and when you get there. BE. there. enjoy!

so. how do you feel the moment?

how do you measure a year in the life?

cue the iPod:seasons of love

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?

how do you measure a year in the life?

what a difference a year makes. i like to celebrate anniversaries. the good, the bad, and even the ugly. it's nice once in a while to stop, think and reflect where the year has taken you. or where did you take the year.

today is a jobiversary. a good day to remember. as I look back at where I was one year ago. i just have to smile. yes. I broke free of the temp job cycle i was in.
i have reestablished myself in the industry. how do i measure this year? yes. in coffee cups. in phone calls. in emails. in free lunches. and yes in benefits.

ONE year ago. my son was in france. today, he stands among the thousands of high school graduates with a hopeful future in front of them. how will he measure those four years away from home? in phone calls? in emails?in text messages? in exams?

ONE year ago my daughter was excited about the prospect of high school. and marching band. TODAY she had completed that first year and is even more excited about the next band season. how will she measure the next year? in footsteps? in text messages? in beats of the drums? in exams?

here's to counting the many more cups of coffee in the coming year.

changes

turn around. yes, the world is constantly spinning, rotating, and mutating all around us. change is constant.

if nothing stays the same, nothing changes.

WHEW! yes. i have been making changes. small to some - maybe later they will appear to bigger than imagined. adding routine to my life. y'know, the things that need to stay constant amid the constant change. those every day, ordinary seemingly mundane tasks that very few LIKE to do? the dishes that always seem to pile up? the never ending laundry? hopefully, these a little routine will help control the chaos.

who woulda thunk it but by keeping things the same and in order it would lead to change? changing thoughts, patterns, and outlooks. and yes. all of that leads to more enjoyment of the finer things life can offer

THINK ABOUT IT....

Over two hundred years ago, our country was founded ... And our founding fathers were able to create the the documents that govern our world today without the Internet.  and now our politicians sit in meetings to discuss the meaning - and the intent of thse words.

in these shoes?

cue the music: in these shoes?

takes many shoes to walk the walk and stand on your own feet.

there are times when running barefoot and fancy free, toes digging into a sandy beach are fun. BUT there are times when adequate protection is necessary to ensure that those feet can still support our bodies.  Proper footwear is also important when navigating the messy terrains of our planet.. and we don't step in doggie doo.

got cold feet? just find a pair of boots - UGGS, hiking... lace them up.. and just DO it.

the race of life has started - make sure the laces are tied - we don't want to trip. Although when we stumble we just need to get back up and tie a stronger knot!

don't lose the beat

we got the beat

we all have an innate rhythm to our lives that dictates the daily cadence of our day. from here to there to everywhere we have a thump thump thumping that keeps us going from morning to night and and back again. and into our dreams the beat goes on..

the early morning bleats of our alarm clocks... or the steady blare of noise.... that jolts us from our slumber.. (or maybe its music that quietly comes on)  starts our internal rhythm that tells us what needs to be done, where we need to be .. how.. how.. how. are we gonna get it all done.

from the morning gurgles of the coffee percolating and our cereal crackling at us.. we all march to our cadence.

when that beat is lost, when we skip a beat..
the cadence is lost.
we lose focus on the priorities. of the what, how, why & whens.
sometimes the beat is not lost but are marching to the beat of someone else's drum...losing focus.

go ahead.bang on your own drum. find your rhythm ... focus.
